The tube is a part of life for all Londoners and visitors to the capital. On average three million people use the tube every single day. There are 275 stations serving over 408 km (253 miles) of railway.
The Cost?
The cheapest way of getting around London is to buy a Travelcard. These can be purchased for a day, 3 days, a week, a month and a year and are valid on buses, tubes, overland trains and the DLR.
In The Zones!
Prices differ between zones 1-6.
Heathrowairport is in zone 6.Gatwick, Lutonand Stansted airports are outside the Travelcard area but overland services easily connect them to the tube.
At the start of 2006 a new DLR station opened at London Cityairport connecting it to central London in just 22 minutes.
